Examen makes commercial real estate firms AI-native. We design, build, and run custom AI agents for acquisitions, investment management, and asset management teams - trained to each firm's templates and criteria, wired into the tools where work already happens, running the moment work lands.
We're hiring a product engineer to build the platform with us. It's a small team, so you'll be close to everything: writing code every day, working directly with our CTO on technical direction, and holding founding-engineer equity. What you build goes to paying customers within days, and they run real deals through it.
What you'll own
- The core architecture of the platform, and a real say in the technical decisions that shape it
- Data pipelines that turn messy real-world documents into clean, structured data
- The infrastructure that keeps AI outputs accurate for institutional customers
- Our engineering standards, tooling, and review culture, and helping us hire the engineers who will inherit them
- Hard problems: making AI outputs reliable, working fast with large financial datasets, and shipping across web, Excel, and email
Qualifications
- You've built systems that are still running in production today, and you're proud of how they're built
- Deep experience with TypeScript or Python (we use both) and comfort working anywhere in the stack
- You've owned the architecture of a product people depend on, including the tradeoffs and the maintenance that come with it
- You've made a team better through code review, mentoring, or hiring, not just your own output
- Solid grounding in databases, distributed systems, and API design
- You can take a vague problem, figure out what to build, and ship it in increments
- You write clearly and can explain technical decisions to people who aren't engineers
Bonus
- Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI pipelines in production
- Experience with large, messy real-world datasets
- You've been a founding or early engineer at a startup
- Open-source work
- Infrastructure and DevOps experience
Compensation
- $200,000 - $250,000 base salary
- 1-5% equity
